With the Spanish-English Bilingual-Bicultural Education Capstone Certificate from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, practicing teachers can support the development of bilingualism, biculturalism and biliteracy for K-12 pupils who speak Spanish as a home language, as well as English-speaking pupils who participate in Spanish-English bilingual programs in Wisconsin public schools.

  • Complete four courses over three semesters from the top ranked School of Education to earn your certificate
  • Upon graduation, you will be eligible to apply for a Spanish-English bilingual-bicultural education license in K-Grade 12 (age 21) from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction
  • Option to complete your practicum in your own K-12 classroom

Admissions and events

Program requirements

All applicants must:

  • Have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • Have a minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.75
  • Have a Wisconsin teaching license
  • Submit evidence of advanced-mid Spanish language proficiency on the ACTFL Proficiency Placement Test by taking the Oral Proficiency Interview and the Writing Proficiency Test
