Admissions and events

Program requirements

All applicants must:

  • Have a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering, engineering, physical or natural science or a related discipline from an accredited institution
  • Have a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0
  • Submit evidence of English language proficiency, if applicable. See the Graduate School Requirements for more information

Ideal applicants will:

  • Have a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering. Students without may be required to complete one or more courses in addition to degree requirements to satisfy any deficiencies (this requirement cannot be determined prior to admission)
  • Have a GPA of 3.2 or higher

*Applicants earning a BS degree from UW-Madison are not required to obtain any letters of recommendation. Within the Graduate School application, in the letters of recommendation section, you will need to enter at least one contact.
