Engine Design

Capstone Certificate

Develop critical expertise in internal combustion engine design. UW–Madison is home to the Engine Research Center, one of the nation’s largest academic research facilities devoted exclusively to internal combustion engines. Credits from this certificate can be applied toward the UW–Madison Engine Systems master’s degree.

Apply by January 15 for spring and complete in 1–2 years.

Polymer Processing & Manufacturing

Capstone Certificate

Enhance your ability to analyze and model processes for the manufacture of plastics including extrusion, injection molding, and mold and equipment design. Credits from this certificate can be applied toward the UW–Madison Polymer Engineering master’s degree.

Apply by August 15 for fall, January 15 for spring or June 1 for summer and complete in 1–2 years.

Power Conversion and Control

Capstone Certificate

Get a competitive edge and gain in-demand design experience while working with faculty from the Wisconsin Electric Machines and Power Electronics Consortium (WEMPEC). Completion of this certificate is required for admission to the Power Engineering master’s program.

Apply by June 1 for fall, November 1 for spring or April 1 for summer and complete in 1–2 years.

Powertrain Electrification

Capstone Certificate

Deepen your knowledge of what it takes to hybridize a powertrain, by exploring the necessary design considerations for the engine and electric drive to work together. Credits from this certificate can be applied towards UW–Madison Engine Systems master’s degree.

Apply by August 15 for fall or January 15 for spring and complete in 1-2 years.
