The Wisconsin School of Business Center for Professional & Executive Development’s Transition to Executive Management program teaches you to lead multiple cross-functional teams with the right mix of broad operational skills, including strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making.

The Wisconsin School of Business Center for Professional & Executive Development’s Transition to Executive Management certificate program is for senior managers, directors, and functional area leaders who have high potential to transition to senior management. It’s also valuable for senior leaders or entrepreneurs of companies with growth potential.

This program it taught by leaders from diverse backgrounds and instructors who combine academic rigor with practical experience.

The program is comprised of three sessions. In session one, you identify the traits associated with high-performing leaders and acquire a deep understanding of how to analyze and align corporate and financial strategy, as well as how global economic trends impact your company. In session two, you develop skills in financial reporting; managing people, including cross-functional teams; influencing key stakeholders; and aligning unit and divisional activities and goals with the broader organizational strategy. In session three, you’ll gain skills in negotiations, operational management, and collaborative integration to help execute your company’s strategy effectively and efficiently.

Registration information

All applicants must have five to 10 years of business experience in a management or leadership role.

How you'll learn

  • Classes are held in full-day, in-person sessions.
  • Earn your certificate in nine days, in three 3-day sessions offered over the course of three months.
