Offered in partnership with the Industrial Refrigeration Consortium, UW–Madison’s Process Safety Management Professional Certificate is designed to give you the skills needed for managing Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Plan (PMP) programs. It’s ideal for PSM coordinators working in ammonia refrigeration facilities or those with a solid understanding of ammonia refrigeration technology.

The certificate will help you become more effective in managing your PSM compliance programs, which includes improving its safety, health and environmental performance while reducing overall risk. You’ll learn to recognize the special constraints, regulations, design principles, best practices and technologies that apply to the field of industrial refrigeration.

You learn in a face-to-face environment, with fellow PSM professionals and instructors who combine academic instruction with practical experience. Exams are conducted online.

Registration information

How you'll learn

  • Classes are conducted in-person and exams are taken online.
  • The certificate is earned by successfully completing five core courses and one elective course. You’ll be required to pass an online exam at the completion of each course.
  • The 5 required courses total 10 CEUs and $7075 cost
  • The choices for the elective range from CEUs 1.4 to 4, costs from $1,395 to $1,795
